On Netflix I have watch several documentaries like "The Age of Stupid", "Surviving Progress", and "Zeitgeist" they have all intrigued me and wanted to asked what you think about those documentaries and what are you doing to help preserve our planet? What are some changes you are making in this new "green era" of 2013? I myself am...
1) Re-using all zip-loc bags
2) Recycling cardboard boxes, glasses, aluminum cans, bottles, everything I can
3) Using Paperbags at the supermarket
4) Refill water bottles
5) Bought a water purifying jug I keep in fridge to refill those bottles with fresh clean water
6) Cutting out meat products, buying more vegetables
7) Starting first garden this summer and planting more trees
8) Drive less, bike or walk more.
9) Donate clothes to charity
10) Make food in big batches then keep in freezer
These are just some things

Share your ideas and what you are doing!! Any charities or donations that you are involved in? I think 2013 is year we all start making GREEN and life-changing choices!!! Please share!

I cook real food which needs less packaging than the packaged crap.

I use CLOTH bags at the supermarket.

I buy less crap and buy locally when I can.

I point out loudly and often that the ONLY cure for global warming is more trees. Congress won't listen until summer time temperatures are past 130 degrees. Hopefully others will.

I think making a difference in the future is going to revolve around food.

Our current food system puts so much strain on our environment.

That's why I'm starting to grow all the fruits and vegetables our family needs in our own yard this year. The goal is to achieve some level of food independence.

I recently wrote a great post on the same topic, hope you find it interesting:

I could make a long list if that's what you want... and I agree with the poster who says, change your mind. The Earth is going to shake us off. All that stuff you mentioned? that will just allow us to live here a bit longer.

We can't "save the Earth". The Earth is just fine the way it is. What we're really worried about is our own butts.

You might add, turning off lights to your list. That is the simplest thing anyone can do.

Congratulations. But I don't think the physical stuff is the most important. I try to engage people's minds and get them thinking about all kinds of things. IDK if it works, but I believe our approach and outlook is primary in making this a better place for all of us. I see people every day who are glued to their phones like a cyborg and are fast becoming oblivious and clueless about the world around them. This worries me more than a little plastic.....and I think it will eventually have far worse consequences when the ability to be rational and sensible leaves us for good. Cattle we are becoming; electronic cattle.

It is not 'Our' planet. We are a species which is bound to be extinct long before the Earth goes cold.
