people have heard alot of talk about 'illuminati', 'NWO', and 'one world government'

this question isn't about that

my question is, in the future, would it be BENEFICIAL to have one world government?

when there are indeed space colonies, and interplanetary commerce, etc

i suppose you can liken this question to the 'futurama' story

would it be a terrible thing to vote for 'the president of earth' one day?

In all sense, the the most efficent and effective form of government is the one global non- Communist government. That way, peace can be maintained, there are no international trade taxes, and there is one universal form of currency (also making trade easier). And with the developement of space colonies, it will be easier for there to be one government, so there are no disputes about territory on the extraterrestrial bodies.

P.S. There techinically wouldnt be anyone person in charge. First there would be a top ruler (Emperor), who would be voted by the people's popular vote directly. Then the Emperor would choose 13 advisors to help him make decisons (sorta like the President's Cabniet). Then the Council (group of Advisors), would elect 50 governors, that would rule over the 50 provinces (the Earth's land would be divided into 50 equal pieces of land. Then from there, the Governors would occassionally meet to vote on laws and policies.

If the rights and freedom of everyone was assured. As it is now there's too much disparity in governing around the world. Until everyone can accept the fact that every person has the right to "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" then I don't think it would work. There are too many governments that practice suppression of equal rights to make a One World Government practical and acceptable.

Any Colony?

We are too big for that.

Even ants split apart when the colony gets too big to manage.

What you'll have is a long distance relationship.

What long distance relationships do best is end.

A delusional dream for arts students. It will never work. It will never unify all. How, pray, will everyone agree? A democratic election wouldn't work because the world is too divided on politics, religion, social problems, etc.

Who says it will be a democratic government?

Best to keep checks + balances in the system.
