Question:
Creator (thought experiment), revised?

If I were to build a robot with the characteristics of an expandable thought process, empathy, self awareness, an understanding of my position as its creator, and the desire to overcome obstacles then I would be accurate in stating that I was its creator. I have also installed inhibitors to make the possibility of the robot ever becoming remotely as complex as myself impossible. I have no supernatural powers, only knowledge(limited relative to my perspective but infinite relative to the robots) to aid in my creation of this robot. Even though I did not create the basic components(matter), I am responsible for its significant complexity(design). As this robots creator am I also its god since I am in all ways infinitely more complex than it, have the power to destroy it, guide it, and possess intimate knowledge of its methods? Did I infact truely create the robot even though I did not create the matter it is compromised of?

What are your thoughts on this and their implications?

You might be a god to your little robot, the relationship of your act of "creation" to the Creator to creation is only an analogy which is more dis-similar than similar-- the main reason being that you did not create the matter from which the materials for your robot are derived. The true act of Creation, at least as it is understood by classical Christian theology, is to create something out of nothing, to create being from non-being. If your little robot grew in its capacity to understand distinctions, it would also learn ot see that though you might be a being of greater power and intellect, you would not be equivalent to what many people identify as God.

It really depends..if you believe that god is what controls your thoughts and actions, then you have created the robot..

If you believe that god is within the matter that is the robot itself..you have created a play toy..

My thought is you are either trying to make a point or you wana be God. God is God nobody else. So lets hope your making a point or learning a leason yourself :)
