Question:
Is December 21, 2012 the End of the World as we know it?

Probably just like a hundred other people, I am worried and wondering if it is true that December 21, 2012 is going to be the End of the World as we know it? I have heard so many things about Mayans, Niburu, 2nd coming of Jesus, etc. Does anyone know how this all started anyways? Are there any real answers?

Its total B.S. It also has nothing to do with philosophy. That aside, learn the art of critical thinking and skeptical inquiry. The real truth is that the Mayans developed a Long count" calendar that has a cycle of several thousand years. It simply starts over on that date, just like our modern calendar ends in December and starts over in January. The Mayans left few written records but it is clear that they couldn't predict the end of the earth because they couldn't even predict their own demise over 1,000 years ago. The world ends for about 128,000 people every single day worldwide. If it ends for you on 12/21/2012 it will simply be poetic irony.

Will the world end in 2012? The best way to answer a question is to look at the facts. There is currently no known way to accurately predict future events. Thanks to chaos theory even a scientist who has performed a simple chemical reaction in a lab with the same results over and over can not be sure that it will always turn out the same way forever, so the short answer is that there is no way of knowing apart from being there on the day. The premise that the world will end in December 2012 is (as you know) primarily based on an ancient South American calendar that ends in the year we have marked by our Gregorian calendar as 2012. This doesn't mean the world will definitely end at that time. It means that at some point in their past history the person who's job it was to make the calendars simply stopped making calendars . People have been predicting the end of the world for a long time and nobody has been right yet so just try not to worry about it. On the other hand- if by some freaky coincidence it does happen to end abruptly in 2012, get some beer, invite some friends over, barbecue some steaks, pull up a chair and enjoy the fireworks because there won't be anything you could do to stop it.

James...there is only One true answer in the World and that Comes From the Creator of the World. You want to know the Truth...stop listening to man kind who is being deceived by Satan from the beginning of time on this Planet and go directly to THE WORD and learn from the holy spirit. Try the King James Bible=Holy Bible because it has the least changes of the original writings. Too many of the new Translations, that is in easy english, have been distorted tremendously and if you choose to get an easy translation of the Bible then use the KJV as a back up to compare verses to see the difference in subjects you seek. God says no one Knows the Day or the Hour when He will come again but we can read the signs of the times and they are all in Scripture. If you want to know more go to www.amazingdiscoveries.tv and watch series called Total Onslaught or Rekindling the Protestant Reformation. by Professor Walter Veith. A real Eye Opener...all about the New World Order, One World Religion, Daniel and Revelation, End time Prophecies....and this will take your fear away. In Gods Love there is no Fear. He shares what is going to happen so you will not be shocked or afraid of what the Bible says about End times. Works for me. God Bless you James. In Christs Love..missleslie...been walking with Christ for 31 years and there is nothing better in the world than to Love God and be loved by Him and He takes care of His Children in Christs Strength.

Um, I don't think the Apocalypse is coming in 2012. The Mayans were a civilization thousands of years ago. Its amazing that they even got this far! The world was supposed to end in 2000 and all the worlds computers were supposed to turn off in 2005. And a day in the summer the world was supposed to end. I have no idea why people say this. But on December 22nd, 2011, shove it in all of those people's faces.

It is said the Mayans thought our world was flat & it was on a crocodiles back & that the crocodile sits on a lilpad in a pond & that if you go to the edge of the earth you will fall of & you believe the Mayans predicted the end of the world!?!?! Oh okay? LOL on that day the only thing that will be big!! Is the planets will align omg is all true!?! No I forgot to tell you that the planets align on December 21st of EVERY year haha I bet you didn't know that did you? As for nibiru or planet x nope there's nothing out there is a FICTIONAL planet. Don't exist I read about it & if there was something that big out there somebody would've discovered it by now. Or we would be able to see it by now. Think about it don't let that stuff get to you, what happened on . "y2k" "666" or that herold campings prediction or the other hundreds of end of the world predictions my grandparents lived through? Yes they are dead may they rest on peace but they died of old age!!!!! Not by the hundreds of end of the world bs predictions. Please rest & sleep thank you for your time bye

We'.ll find out in a little over a year on December 21, 2012. Quit worrying about it. I have lived long enough to have heard a jillion times the world will end, and it hasn't happened yet. Could it happen, I guess. Do I worry it will happen, nah. So while it is technically a possibility, the chances of it happening are rare. And if it did, we probably wouldn't know anyway.

The idea that 21/12/2012 is the end of the world is an interpretation of the Mayan calender. It stops on that date, but their is no specific pointers to a doomsday scenario. For all we know they just couldn't be bothered to continue. Even if it did mean the apocalypse, it's stupid to believe it, as it was put forward by a civilisation that existed thousands of years ago, was nowhere near our current level of technology and understanding, and their is no evidence to even slightly suggest the world will end then. Ignore it, it's a silly belief.

Lies. I don't believe anything will happen. If God wanted the world to end it could be gone tomorrow. No one can tell exactly when the end will come. They've been doing this for years. We were all supposed to die in 2000. So every couple of years crazy people come up with these theories that we are all going to die. But no one knows when the real end will come. Have you noticed everyone has a different theory? To me it's a bunch of bullsh*t, but then again I could be wrong.

who knows. who can see the future. there are theories however theories are not facts. instead of being worried about the end of the world as we know it you should focus on living and enjoying every day to the fullest as if it were your last day and if something did happen at least you spent your time enjoying life and not dreading it. there is no wisdom or peace of mind in worrying about things you have no control over. if the second coming of Jesus bothers you then give your life to him and that will be one less thing you will have to worry about. don't worry be happy!!!!

! sometimes wish it was. If only so that folk would stop asking this question.

But no. The world will end when God decides enough is enough, and there are still some of His prophesies to be fulfilled first. I stand in awe of His patience.

The Holy Word of God, The Holy Bible answers all your questions and alleviates all your fears. But, for those of you who are only interested in the scientific explanations, I can recommend you to where I found my answers. The website that was recommende to me was www.21december2012.org even though this site did provide good information, I still believe that the Holy Bible is all you need to face anything that may happen to us in the near or distant future!

The world will not end, but the world will change.

Not according to the Bible. I suggest reading it, New Testament first. Then you can be ready when it does happen.
