Libraries. Seriously, that's been a huge money saver for me, especially the media section. They've opened up whole new worlds for me, like films, music and literature from other countries. Charity shops are good for books too. And if you're lucky enough to still have an independent music store with a good used section, that can be fantastic.
If you like music, then have a look around for ways to get connected with that community on the internet. One size doesn't fit all, but that's the way it's supposed to be. A site like youtube can be great for music genres that centre around live gigs. Lots of great sites for older genres like blues. Etc.
We have access to a tremendous amount of new experiences and information. The trick is learning how to find it and being open minded enough to appreciate it.

Sorry Chaz, neuroscientific research does indicate that novelty has an important role in stimulating brain cell development and neuroplasticity. At that level it's a need, not a want.
