To find something that you are passionate about and want to pursue.

Libraries. Seriously, that's been a huge money saver for me, especially the media section. They've opened up whole new worlds for me, like films, music and literature from other countries. Charity shops are good for books too. And if you're lucky enough to still have an independent music store with a good used section, that can be fantastic.

If you like music, then have a look around for ways to get connected with that community on the internet. One size doesn't fit all, but that's the way it's supposed to be. A site like youtube can be great for music genres that centre around live gigs. Lots of great sites for older genres like blues. Etc.

We have access to a tremendous amount of new experiences and information. The trick is learning how to find it and being open minded enough to appreciate it.

Sorry Chaz, neuroscientific research does indicate that novelty has an important role in stimulating brain cell development and neuroplasticity. At that level it's a need, not a want.

You must realise that novelty is never a NEED, but a want.

Novelty can never satisfy, because it is a contradiction.

Each new thing becomes old the moment you encounter it, so that the need for novelty can never be satisfying, only frustrating.

Attend to your real needs and you will want for nothing.

Novelty stimulates demand, which increases the production of goods and services, which provides jobs and earnings, which buys novelty, which leads to economic growth, which makes everyone better off. And so the cycle repeats, which is why technology improves, and which is why we are all so much better off on average than our ancestors were.

if you do the same things but in a different way it will seem like a novelty.

I think it is difficult to eradicate temptation and legitimate desires from the mind of people. If you give a convincing reason, your kith and kin or friends or relatives may listen to you.
