Do you think that stupidity is an inherent function of humanity?

Levity and gravity are two constants of the physical universe. Stupidity may be an expression of universal levity.

Good question.

Hmm--No. I think its more that we are naturally predisposed to use the easiest meas to get our goal and stupid answers come to mind because they would be easy if they weren't stupid.

So to the kid who sees a banana on the counter, jumps. He gets it but he falls and cracks an elbow and crys. You knew that was not going to end well, and you thought it was stupid-but he thought it was easier than getting the chair. Now he knows its not easier to jump so he gets a chair next time and he's no longer stupid or he can continue in the stupidty because of laziness.

Laziness is the inherent function of humanity and stupidty is a learned "function" or an impediment to overcome.

You're just begging for abuse with this question worded as it is, but I'll try to answer it.

No. I think some people are stupid, and they become politicians and try to make the rest of us stupid enough to do as they say.

Mankind is pretty smart as a whole.

What is your question in re: Relativity? Do you mean that in the Einsteinian sense? If so, No. Relativity is an example of just how smart we can be. Remember it dates from 1920 or so, and we's doubled our scientific knowledge every six months since then.

People all through history have shown themselves to have an extremely weird combination of intelligence and truly aggressive stupidity.

We have abundant evidence of all this now with our war in Iraq and Afghanistan, our religious conflicts, and in the way we are in denial about global warming, which could quite possibly--maybe even probably--cause our own extermination.

Not quite.

Humans are free in a way that no living creature we know of it.

It is this freedom the creates the possibility of stupidity.

Fortunately for us, Nature was a way of weeding such behavour out over time...
