how does this affect our outlook on life? In Asia, for example, there are Holy People you know are real. They wear a certain garment, they have a certain attitude, they can be seen praying or meditating in public, caring for the poor. Most of them practice things like Celibacy, intense fasting or spending long times in prayer.

In this society, we don't see them very often. So how can we know what is that "tougher" form of spirituality?

Why is it important to see public displays of those performing religious practices? The bible warns us of people doing thing like this just to be seen doing them. God tells us to go to our 'closet' to pray. What is the benefit of this public displays? Does it serve as a reminder? Does it evoke respect for those doing these things? I don't see the point. Here in America, we have a church on practically every corner in which we practice our faith. On American TV, you can listen to any number of religious programs. Would you prefer they take their programs to the streets? I would rather see regular people performing random acts of goodness and kindness. This gives me a truer feeling of love of God and spirituality.

Actually, outward displays of "holiness" are almost always demonstrations of a person that is not holy.

Those with real holiness practice humility, and one of the primary aspects of humility is not doing things publicly to be seen by others.

Also, holiness can't really be seen in a person locking themselves away and unable to do anything. Holiness is demonstrated by people having the capacity to do wrong and choosing to do right.

Those that segregate themselves from the world are merely using a crutch to avoid the normal temptations that affect people. They can never prove any holiness while using that crutch.

There is no need to tell the whole world about how holy you are. Well, some religious people are required to display their traditions and beliefs.

Ask their opinion about sex after marriage and gay people. Most people that are hardcore into God say that sex should be after marriage, and gay people will go to hell (which i don't believe for the obvious reasons).

For girls, they usually make sure that they are completely covered. No low-cut shirts. No really short shorts.

For guys, It is the way they carry themselves. idk about you, but i can always tell just by that.
