Religion to each us..has its own meaning..we have a religion that calms us, sooths and comforts us during troubling times and allows us to grow and become better humans..and perhaps if we allow it to happen..even enlightened humans.. To each their own..for in most religions the goal appears the same ...love ..peace...harmony..and happiness..nuff said

I am a practicing Catholic born in India. I grew up learning Christian philosophy. My surroundings made me know more about other religions like Hindu/Buddhism. I think/feel/know that all religions essentially say the same thing.
The reason why I follow my religion is that I was raised in that. I dont have anything against any other religion as each religion essentially says the same.
Think of it this way. Religions are like a path to the top of a mountain. Each path is different. But all lead to the same summit. The reason why I follow my religion is I've started already on one path. As everything leads to the same summit, it doesnt matter which path you take, as long as you know the deeper meaning of what each religion says.

Everyone thinks their religion is the one, and so do I. I'm an orthodox christian, and yes, I have studied other religions, but I would never change mine. For example, I would never turn to islam, I don't like some things in their religion, like the need to make war with "unbeleavers". And I also wouldn't be a chatolic because Vatican always supported wars in the history, and it's not the thing what one church should do. I know that there are many that think I'm not right, and I respect that. But there are many miracles that happened in our churches, especcialy in Ostrog, people who were blind or couldn't walk were cured. And that's only one from many reasons why I bealive that my religion is the one.

Actually, as I'm a chaotic pagan, it is my religion to be open to all religions. Makes it really funny when placed in a discussion with someone who is insecure about their faith. I've never been confronted with anything but goodwill and understanding by someone who is entirely comfortable with their ideals, studied or not. Therefore, I assume that most people don't study and hold onto their handed faith so severely because they're afraid they might be wrong.

Personally, I think religion in general is just an overly utopian idea that the person before you created and you can choose to follow it or reject it. People put faith in their gods and pray because life alone is just depressing. They wanna have something to look forward to. They want to believe that there is a supreme being who can fix this hell in which we call earth. I have studied just about every religion and as you already know, there's never any legitimate proof whatsoever. Heck I think I'll just create my own religion and call it the "one."

Actually in a lot of religions, clergy do study about other religions. I know that my father did...
One doesn't necessarily think that their religion is "the one" for EVERYONE, but rather that it is what is right for them. It may have a lot to do with the way they were raised.

I changed my religion may times when I was young before I was saved. When I was Saved and became christian, there was an instant change I could feel at that moment that I hadn't gotten with any other religion I'd ever tried before.

There are people who need religion to find a deeper meaning in their lives. After they have chosen they shouldn't look down on others; they should just see them as the choice other people made and that, in factm isn't that differente from theirs.

I go to a penecostal church..but I am not a penecostal..I am a born again child, of the Most High God..I was invited to go to some SGI buddist meetings..they wanted me to become a member, they said I had reached enlightenment and they wanted me to share how I did it..when I explained that is was My Lord and My Saviour Jesus who gave me this Love and unspeakable joy deep down within my heart, they asked me to leave and not to return..I have kept them all in my prayers..for there is not one person I do not love..the only thing that my heart has any hatred for his satan and his angels..for he is the father of lies and deceit..Amen!!
I do not think my religion is the right one..it is not Church you attend, it is what is in your heart..
For Serving Our Lord and Saviour Jesus..is the only true religion..Amen!!

I think it's all about control, keeping people in line, the herding instinct and tribalism. The very idea that others are damned if they don't adopt specific beliefs is itself immoral and, in this day and age, increasingly dangerous.
