School teacher

They make very little money and they can touch hundreds of young minds.

I thought about Dr. but they get paid well. Teachers have the ability to teach hundreds of young minds and put them on the path to becoming Dr.s. Without teachers there would be no Dr.s no profesions.

Simply a teacher does the most good for society, is the hero of hundreds of kids changing lifes forever and does it for little pay.

Everybody remembers how a teacher affected their life.

The arguments made here are all well and good. IMHO Teachers and Mothers share the title for the one thing in life that provides the most value. The worlds oldest profession is Prostitution. Professions of nobility would include Military etc. But often they were not considered Nobel. Historically Women and therefore mothers were looked on as property and hardly noble. (to be clear this is from western Anglo and Greek world not Celtic which is matriarchal) Doctors in the early days were often as disdained, as quackery and other issues prevailed. The medicine man was looked on as a witch and barbaric.

Pharaohs Emperors etc engaged in civil and social engineering, often in the mode of shaping the built environment.

As seen from a historical standpoint Architecture is the most Nobel profession.

Not that the most Nobel profession matters so much that it should be your path.

Just like saying prostitution is the oldest profession, does not mean its a good idea.

If you wanna argue profession means to profess, then teaching is the only profession. All others are practitioners.

By nobel profession, do you mean eligible for the Nobel Prize! This is awarded in specific categories e.g. Medicine, Economics, Chemistry, Physics. So I guess you could say that these professions are more Nobel than ones such as Mathematics and Psychology for which there is no such prize.

You might argue that those who choose to profess religion (Christian priests or clergymen or their equivalent in other religions) are the most noble because they give up worldly wealth for deeper spiritual truths.

Another line of argument would be historical, to point out that the world "noble" relates to the ancient class of people given wealth and status in return for duties to protect the king or other ruler. You could therefore conclude that the professional military officer has the job today that most nearly matches this role. In the United Kingdom, you could observe that there are still nobles acting as politicians in the House of Lords!

Because people differ in personality as well as intellectual ability, physical characteristics (including sex and strength) and educational background, there is no one best profession to enter in terms of career choice. Some are paid more (professional footballer) and some have higher power and status (manager of a larger corporation). However, in the end I think that everybody should contribute what they can as human beings and be respected as individual people.

LOL, no, you still actually have to work for the Nobel Prizes in science. However, Al Gore got a Nobel Peace Prize for making the world's highest-grossing powerpoint on how global warming is going to happen, so why don't you make a powerpoint on how cold fusion is going to occur in the future and then nominate yourself? Of course, be careful not to do something like negotiate the release of two prisoners from an oppresive regime ran by a clinically insane dictator, because apparently DOING something good like that will disqualify you.

Noble - Having honorable qualities; having moral eminence and freedom from anything petty, mean or dubious in conduct and character.

Profession - An occupation that requires expertise or a high level of skill.

Hmm..I cant think of any profession where these two qualities are present!!

All I can think of is charity work to help others less fortunate, especially unpaid, which has got to be a noble profession - although charity work is not a 'profession'.

the most noble profession in the world is not being a degree graduate , or a doctorate, neither or any known profession we can read and add. nobility starts from within;

a low knowledge person is sometimes is much, much better than a well known professionals. for they can clearly see the true meaning of the word "being in need" a good doctor once ask: okey! in order to lessen the consultation fees of our patient is by asking the goverment to reduce their taxes, take away the VAT then they can help their patient. But the patient replied why dont you doctors reduce your professional services so that we can afford your fees . the doctor just throw a big smile and nothing follows. a person who had a big heart for his fellows and knows how to respect others an d their beliefs shows professional nobility. there so many thing to say and to explain.

Most noble profession? That may be a tough one. The most noble professions overall are the ones that put others before the welfare of self. Soldier, teacher, pastor, all of these professions either sacrifice money, safety, or both for the one employed in these jobs for the safety, potential, and comfort of others.

I think the most noble profession is ambulance man, closely followed by fireman. They have committed themselves to helping people in a crisis and don't punish anyone or push for kickbacks. They also put up with a lot of abuse from the general public, wether its inconsiderate drivers or violent or abusive drunks.

any professional is noble if do it nobally.

i see most of the person thinks that teacher, doctors, nurses, fireman etc are noble professions...

but there may be unwilling teachers, greedy doctors, or nurses, fireman etc who do not like the job and perform their duty as if they are doing favour...

nobility of a profession is not in the profession itself, but on the individual involved in the profession...

he may be a cleaner, a mountaineer, an astraunaut, a delivery boy or anything...

i agree with the "its only as noble as you are" idea but here's my suggestion-

Old Person's carer's. In my country they get minimum wage, care in EVERY way for people who know they have come there to die. The sheer service given by these good people is hundred's of times more noble than the politicians who supposedly "serve" the people or the doctors who go it, cut, sew and go out without knowng the person. the carer's profession is one of unbelievably selfless service and it is a humbling and elightening experience to care, watch over and see through to the death of people you come to love and truly care for.

if thats not the noblest what is?

There is no such thing as "the most noble profession". Being noble comes from your inner motives. "Why" you do something is much more important than "what" you do.

Many people these days work for selfish ambitions: money, power, fame. I believe the most noble people are the ones who work hard because they care about the people that they are serving.

no such thing as "cold fusion" but as a president who is currently fighting two wars gets the " peace" prize anything is possible, invent a revolutionary door knocker and you could win a "no-bell" prize
