Are we born innocent?

When born, everyone considers children innocent. But are we innocent at birth only to be corrupted by the world throughout life? Is it true that only curiosity kills the cat, or is the cat already dieing? when we are children, we exist and our sole meaning for existence is survival and comfort. In truth, comfort when we are born is more important to us that survival. You who are around kids know that there curiosity is really what gets them into trouble, and they lie to get out of trouble so they don't have to feel the pain of punishment. But is the lieing starting from fear, or selfishness? Parents also know (if there good) the meaning of selflessness, and above that, love. They would also know the feeling of receiving neither from the child at a point of time. Are we born in innocence? I don't know everything and I may not of explained my thoughts clearly, I'm just curious. Are we truly born innocent and as we get older, we become corrupt, or are we already "soul sick" and selfish for pleasure? I found it curious.

We are born, live our lives and die innocent.

Any other idea is simply religious nonsense.

I an old enough to have sat and talked with several friends who were dying.

They were all good people, Innocent as they were when we were kids.

Religion is just a social control mechanism.

There isn't all that much difference between fear and selfishness, for a lying toddler. Fear is a selfish emotion.

We're born in innocence, but as soon as we are born we become separate from other beings, we enter competition for resources and comforts with other beings, and our interests can come into conflict with other beings. (This is why, by the way, personhood begins at birth.) Innocence just means non-nocent, not culpable for a harm or deprivation ... it's relative to other beings. So of course in that sense no born person of any age can ever be innocent. Each time you eat, you eat food someone else could have eaten. Anywhere you are, you are taking up space that someone else could use. It's our nature as material beings with material interests, that prevents us from being thoroughly innocent. It isn't important what your motives are - a child's mind develops *for the purpose* of protecting and advancing its own interests.

Yes, everyone considers children innocent. Yes, we are born innocent only to be corrupted and given myriad choices, decisions, and options to live all sorts of life. Yes, it is true that curiosity killed that cat. This is very true, in scientific, divine/myth. Scientific - scientists kill cats and animals simply for the purpose of an experiment, all from a simple question that starts with an If, and ends with a Then. Divine/Myth - Eve's naivety and curiosity lead her to eat the forbidden fruits with the help of the snake's treachery. Yes/No that we are born with comfort outweighing survival; it isn't the same for everyone. Yes, it is children/kids' curiosity that gets them in trouble but it is NOT the ONLY THING that gets them in trouble. Yes, the root of lying can be directed to fear and selfishness, but NOT only fear/selfishness.

We are born innocent, only to be corrupted. That's the zoomed out of the picture. But if you zoomed in, you will understand and agree that we are already PROGRAMMED to be born of innocence, and live life knowing what kind of shitty, ugly, corrupted world we live in, because that's how we humans have been. Our lives, our human cycle, THE endless human cycle has programmed itself to be this way. Good question.

Born innocent, religions twist your head. Faith has in reality convinced men and women that there may be an invisible man -- living within the sky -- who watches the whole lot you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special record of ten matters he does no longer need you to do. And in the event you do any of these ten matters, he has a unique location, filled with fire and smoke and burning and torture and discomfort, the place he'll ship you to live and endure and burn and choke and scream and cry eternally and ever 'til the tip of time! However He loves you. -- George Carlin Politically improper, may just 29, 1997 The challenge with born-once more Christians is that they are a good greater anguish the 2d time round. -- Herb Caen, San Francisco Chronicle (20 July 1981)

I think there are people who are just born more aggressive or are born naturally nicer, but they all start out innocent, they don't realize that the things they are doing are hurting people or themselves. So they are doing things for their own comfort, but they aren't realizing that some of the things that make them more comfortable and happy can have very negative affects on others.

You are born innocent as a baby and a toddler, and

in reality, there are older children, being charged as adults.

Plus!

"When a child is left to run the streets and keep bad company and advice,

and is not provided with a proper home, then it is the parents who are

delinquent, and not the child." - Father Flanagan ♥

NO, many people are "soul sick" in the womb. I don't need to rattle off the names of horrendous villains in Man's history to make my point. You know their names. It is just the destiny of some to be "bad"..
