Well, it would really depend on the secret. If it was something that could be possibly used against you to destroy you if it was known, I'd say in that case the secret has you. In most other cases, we have secrets. We may feel it's the other way around, but that doesn't make it so.

Oh I disagree with the above.

For if one is holding in a secret, than the secret has something powerful behind it, thus, that power is either shared or withheld depending on what we get out of the action.

The secret of having an affair - that, has one by the balls, for if it is dIscovered all hell will break loose.

The secret of a shameful act - if shared with the right person, it can be healed, remorse shown, and a human side discovered.

Oh, AMAZING question! I dont think Ive ever thought about it this way. Secrets can own you if you let them. Things that you think about all the time but could never share. Things that you have done and dont want to be judged for. Things that you feel but can not reveal cause it would hurt someone you care about..... These things are part of everyone. They add a sense of mystery to a person. They are the things that make you think "if only these people knew who I am really"

Depends on the secret and how you choose to deal with it.

some secrets were meant to be kept that way . . . some secrets are only that as someone elses opinion, maybe to protect themselves or integreity though that may not be the same for the person being told (if in case) and how you or that person chooses to handle that information is up to you/them.

We have secrets. Secrets aren't beings capable of having someone.

I would say both because we start the secret but get so caught up in keeping it we will do anything to protect it; therefore it in a way ownes us.

we had secret. we had a lot of secrets. if you think that secrets have us that we're bound to keep it, you're wrong. a secret can be ignored, forgotten and a lot more. just keep the secret that you think it is important. password 4 sure. are keeping password make password have us? i don't think so

i try to avoid secrets.

there are some things i don't think everyone needs to know, but if pressed, i get a bit shifty, palms start sweating, and eventually i'll crack. i guess in that case the secret 'has' me. (i'm an awful poker player too...wonder why!)

This is a trap. We have secrets, but secrets can trap us.
